Job Shadowing
Are you a high school student or an adult interested in a health care career, but you want more information? The Health Council's collaborative job shadowing program is the ideal way for potential health care professionals to get a behind-the-scenes look at the daily responsibilities of their career choice!
Job Shadowing is an experience offered to students or adults who have a definite interested in a career in the health care industry. It allows the student the opportunity to explore his/her interest in a learning environment.
During the job shadowing experience, the shadower is paired with a health care professional (Nurse, Radiology Technician, Pharmacist, Respiratory Therapist, Laboratory Technician, etc.). The student is assigned to observe the professional as they continue to do their job. This experience can be anytime between 4 and 8 hours in length. Participants must be at least 16 years of age to participate.
Job Shadowing will provide the participant:

- An opportunity to expand his/her knowledge about his/her field of interest

To job shadow, participants will need the following:
- A current immunization record (which includes 2 doses MMR if born before 1957, you must have rubella and rubeolla titer”)
- A current TB test within the last 12 months. (A two-step TB test is required which is actually 2 TB tests. If you have had a one step in the past 12 months, only one more TB test is required)
- If doing shadowing in a patient care area, a hepatitis B vaccine is strongly recommended but not required.
- Have a completed emergency authorization and consent form
- Attend an orientation program after all forms are completed and received by the Health Council.
- Orientations are offered monthly (one in KY and one in OH each month). The Kentucky location is at the Florence One Stop and the Ohio location is the Greater Cincinnati Health Council office in Norwood.
**Once you have the completed requirements for the program, mail or fax all forms to the Health Council, and you will be scheduled for the next orientation class. The class lasts for one hour.
